“Lord, blessed are our children. Help us to teach them to not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but to have their delight in Your Holy Word, and on Your Word they will meditate day and night. Make them like trees planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that they do for Your kingdom, help them prosper. Lord, the wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore, Lord, protect our children from the wicked and the schemes of the world. For the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for You know the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish (Psalm 1).”
In the heart of this prayer, we praise God for the gift of children and prioritize their care and discipleship. Our goal is for children at First Baptist Church of Litchfield to surpass in us a zeal to joyfully advance the kingdom of God by making much of Jesus in the church, community, and home. We champion with parents to nurture the faith of the next generation by providing an atmosphere where Christ is made much of in Word, Worship, Prayer, and Service.
NURSERY
In the nursery, caregivers lead the children ages birth–3 years in age-appropriate activities, including playtime, God-centered stories, songs, and memory verses. Each session in the nursery includes prayer for each child by name, and a simple snack is provided for children over 12 months.

ELEMENTARY
In our programs for children in the elementary grades, we seek to point the next generation to find their joy in Jesus, to be students of God’s word, and to connect in the local church.
Sunday Morning (9 am-10 am)
For Sunday School, in grades K-6, we use a curriculum (Children Desiring God) that teaches the greatness of God in robust age-appropriate lessons that capture the hearts of children with big truths.

Worship Service (10:00am-12:00pm)
Sunday School classes are held during the school year. A teacher will guide their class in various activities, encouraging them in the knowledge of Christ and his word. When the school year ends, we give all our teachers a break and come together as a church family to do inter-generational bible study during the Sunday School hour.
During worship, we believe the best means of discipleship for our children is to worship with their families as one. We trust the Holy Spirit to move and work in them at an age-appropriate level, just as we would anyone else. Therefore, we provide nursery care for ages 0-3 during Sunday service. We provide children’s packets for those four years old and over with pictures and crayons to help them as they learn to worship in the church service.
